Have you ever wondered how research at the Naturalis laboratory is carried out? The Naturalis museum is only a small part of Naturalis Biodiversity Center, the Netherlands’ national research institute for biodiversity and nature. Especially for the Leiden Bio Science Park Open Day, we are opening the doors to our laboratory!

Discover how researchers use advanced scanners and microscopes to study the natural world, and how DNA-based techniques enable them to identify species through their genetic material. This is a unique opportunity to see how science really works—up close and firsthand.

Practical information
Meet at the reception desk at the Naturalis entrance (Mendelweg side)
Guided tours last approximately 30–40 minutes
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your scheduled start time
Suitable for visitors aged 8 and above
